New expansions aside, you know that the costume contest at BlizzCon will always be worth watching. The effort (and in some cases originality) that people make for each convention is amazing. And let’s not speak about to also don the outfit and climb a stage with hundreds of people in the audience, and thousands upon thousands more viewing from video and pictures. Kudos to all that participate.
The winner this year was Mistress of Pain (a future boss from Diablo III), and the look of her scare the shit out of me. Perfectly detailed from legs to er… teeth. However when it comes to my personal top 10 she isn’t even on it. The fact that only two on my list made it to the finale shows that either I or the official judges has strange taste. I know which.
Pictures from WoW.com.
Number 10: Argent Squire
What: In game the Argent Squire is available from the Argent Tournament, and for some extra effort you even can give him a pony.
Cutest thing ever.
Number 9: Blood Elf with Sunfury Bow
What: The Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix is a drop from Prince Malchezaar in Karazhan.
I had a Blood Elf female hunter with the bow, and it is possibly the most beautiful bow in the game. I cried a little inside when I had to replace it in Wrath.
Number 8: Bank Alts
What: Bank alts or Auction House alts is a great way to save bank space. And why not pimp them out so everyone can see that they are filthy rich? (The Blood Elf in the bottom right corner is my bank alt btw.)
The Blood Elf male even had a monocle!
Number 7: Noob Human Warrior
What: Noob Human Warriors can be found killing wolves and kobolds in Northshire Valley.
The awesomeness is almost off the scale for this outfit. The details is perfect (although I don’t remember the hole in the crotch), and it’s only because of the far greater work that the other costumes comes higher on my list.
Number 6: Sanctificaton Regalia Priest
What: Sanctification Regalia is the Priest t8.5.
There was a male in the same set, but since he apparently didn’t feel comfortable in a robe he made it pants. Boo!
Number 5: Regalia of Faith Priest
What: Regalia of Faith is the Priest tier 7.5.
Missing a gloria, but seeing a wire sticking up behind the head can also be a little off-putting.
Number 4: Kael’thas Sunstrider
What: Kael’thas don’t need any introduction. He is a hero in Warcraft III, and in WoW he is the last boss of Tempest Keep and Magister’s Terrace (Tempest Keep was just a setback!).
The wild hair is a little off, but what impressed me the most was not the spot-on robe… but the green eyes! Do you see them? Click for a bigger picture if you don’t. That’s some serious dedication! (Contact lenses?)
Number 3: Thunderheart Druid
What: Thunderheart is the tier 6 Druid set.
The picture is really bad, but even from what you can see the detail work is awesome. Is that real fur?!
Number 2: Valeera Sanguinar
What: Valeera Sanguinar is originally from the official WoW comic, where she is a companion to Varian Wrynn, the bastard leader of the Alliance that we all love to hate.
Hot female Blood Elf with attitude, kicking ass in skimpy, unpractical clothing. Seems like a sure bet to become a favorite at BlizzCon. The detail work on the armor is impressive, and she even delivered a kick and licked her blade. Why didn’t she win? Judges were either all female or huge Diablo fans. She got into the finale, but not of the final three.
Number 1: Mother Shahraz
What: Mother Shahraz is a six-armed boss from Black Temple that seriously kicked some ass.
Nothing much to say here, the detail work is just perfect. She got into the finale, but not of the finale three.
Those are my personal top 10 of the costume contest. Stay tuned for my “BlizzCon Costume Contest - Men’s Edition” later ;)

I LOVED the level 1 human warrior. It was one of those costumes that you recognise immediately if you know what it is. And the pose as well.
The blood elf chick didn’t win because despite the quality of her costume she had a really bad attidute. I was one of the contestants not listed here and saw her backstage. Also she was real stuck up to the point of (after annoucing the winner) I overheard her say “They always choose the slutty girls to win” about the mistress of pain.
Oh, that made me really lol ;)
LOL Too bad Raine’s costume was COMPLETELY covered. Let’s show our Vagina’s to the world.
I’m not really seeing anything wrong with this statement, as hard as I try.
Hey! your jealousy is showing! that’s how the costume is btw. gj for having a non accurate valeera sanguinar costume and crying about other people showing off skin when that’s what the character does, you know?
btw it’s vaginae not vagina’s. good grammar there.
gratz jo jo for being a superior valeera sanguinar and having the balls to pull off that costume and not talking shit like the “real one” did. Btw, you aren’t valeera sanguinar “The Real One.” she’s a made up character dumbass.
Hi guys,
It’s Jo-Jo (aka “Valeera”). My friend sent me a link to this site after seeing my pictures on it, and I just wanted to clarify a couple of things:
1) First of all, THANK YOU for the incredibly kind compliments regarding my costume! I might put on a blond wig and pose on-stage one day a year, but the other 364 days I’m really just another anonymous WoW/SC geek like everyone else, and knowing that there are such awesome, supportive people like yourself out there makes me incredibly proud to be a fellow Blizz fan. ^^
2) Secondly, in response to Jaina’s comment above — there was never, at ANY point either before, during or after the contest when I disparaged any of the other contestants by calling them nasty names (it is not in my nature to label anyone a “slut”), and I am disturbed that someone would accuse me of such behavior. In fact, I had a nice conversation with both Lorraine (Mistress of Pain) and Christina (Mother Shahraz) while we were waiting backstage, and I told them just how appreciative I was of all the hard work that went into their costumes, and how phenomenal and impressive they looked! Unlike some other contestants, I was never “in it to win it” — the competition aspect was always secondary to simply having the opportunity to spend time with other really cool, like-minded people.
3) Finally, I’m not sure if everyone is aware of this, but there were actually *TWO* Valeera Sanguinars in the costume contest, myself and another young lady in a very similar costume. All I’m saying is, it *might* have been a case of mistaken identity. :)
Cheers, and thanks again for your time and support…
I know of the other valeera and she is one of the winners best friends. So, i’m certain she would never have said anything disparaging about her costume. So, I don’t think theirs any possibility of a “mistaken identitiy”.
